Protection & Healthy Defenses

Exploring Wei Qi, Boundaries & the Wisdom of the Body

A Series of Three Group BodyTalk Sessions | November–December 2026

Nature teaches us about healthy boundaries by showing us how living systems balance self-protection, selective nourishment and graceful transitions

Protection is one of the body's most fundamental functions. Every moment, countless systems are working together to maintain our wellbeing, respond to our environment, establish healthy boundaries and help us navigate the world around us.

But protection is about much more than defending ourselves against something harmful.

It is also about knowing when to respond, when to rest, what to welcome in, what to keep out, and how to maintain a healthy relationship with ourselves and the world around us.

Join me for a series of three group BodyTalk sessions as we explore the fascinating relationships between our protective systems, our consciousness and our innate wisdom.

Each session will unfold according to the priorities that emerge through the group, creating an opportunity to explore these themes in ways that are unique to those participating.

Protection Is More Than a Physical Response

When we think about protection, we often think of the immune system. Yet throughout the body, there are many remarkable systems and processes whose roles involve protection, defence, boundaries and maintaining balance.

One of these is Wei Qi, a concept from Traditional Chinese Medicine often described as the body's protective energy.

But Wei Qi is only one part of a much bigger picture.

Our skin and integumentary system, microbiome, immune system, heart, pericardium meridian and many other aspects of our physiology all contribute to the complex ways we experience and express protection.

And then there are the less tangible aspects.

The emotional boundaries we establish. The beliefs and experiences that influence how safe we feel. The protective patterns we develop throughout our lives. The ways we respond to stress, relationships and our environment.

Sometimes the very mechanisms that once helped protect us may no longer serve us in the same way.

What does healthy protection look like when our physical, emotional, mental and energetic systems are working together in greater harmony?

This is the overarching theme we'll be exploring through our three group sessions.

Rather than deciding in advance which systems or issues we'll address, we'll allow the BodyTalk process and the innate wisdom of the group to reveal the priorities as we go.

Each session will be unique, and while every session can stand on its own, the three sessions may naturally build upon and complement one another.

What Is a Group BodyTalk Session?

A group BodyTalk session is a wonderful opportunity to experience the BodyTalk System within a collective setting, where everyone participating becomes part of the group matrix.

BodyTalk is a consciousness-based approach to healthcare that works with the body's innate wisdom - its natural ability to communicate what is a priority for restoring balance and supporting wellbeing.

As a practitioner, I use a specialised biofeedback process, together with my BodyTalk training and experience, to communicate with this innate wisdom and identify the priorities that emerge during the session.

Rather than following a predetermined plan, we allow the session to unfold according to what the group needs at that particular time.

These priorities may involve physical systems, emotions, beliefs, memories, relationships or other aspects of our lives and wellbeing.

You don't need any previous experience with BodyTalk to participate. Simply find somewhere comfortable, relax and allow yourself to enjoy the experience.

The Power of the Group Matrix

There's something quite remarkable about working with a group.

Within the BodyTalk understanding of consciousness, we recognise that we're all interconnected. When we come together with a shared intention, we create a group matrix in which the experiences and priorities of individual participants can have relevance for the collective.

Something that emerges during a session may resonate deeply with several people, even though their personal circumstances or health concerns may be completely different.

And sometimes, what unfolds is entirely unexpected.

I've been facilitating group BodyTalk sessions for 20 years, and time and time again, I've witnessed the potential for profound change within these group settings.

It's one of the reasons I continue to love facilitating them.

Each group brings together a unique combination of people, experiences and priorities. No two sessions are ever quite the same, and we never know exactly what will emerge until we begin.

You don't need to understand the process, have any previous BodyTalk experience or even know what you'd like to work on.

You're simply invited to come along and be part of the experience.

The Experience Continues
Beyond the Live Session

One of the wonderful things about group BodyTalk sessions is that participation isn't limited to those who attend live.

When facilitating a group session, my intention includes everyone who joins us in the moment, as well as those who will connect with the session through the recording in the future.

Within the BodyTalk understanding of consciousness and the group matrix, we recognise that the experience isn't necessarily limited by time or physical distance.

Those watching later are invited to participate just as they would during a live session, including tapping out the techniques as we go.

What to Expect

Each session will run for approximately 60 minutes, although the duration may vary depending on what unfolds during the BodyTalk process.

We'll begin with a short guided meditation or focusing exercise to help everyone settle, become present and connect with the group.

From there, I'll facilitate the BodyTalk session, allowing the innate wisdom of the group to guide the priorities that emerge.

There's nothing special you need to do or prepare. Simply find yourself a comfortable, quiet space where you can relax and enjoy the experience.
